Raats Family Wines Dolomite Cab Franc 2021
Raats Family Wines' Dolomite Cabernet Franc is a red wine that is jam-packed with flavor and complexity. The wine is made with 100% Cabernet Franc grapes grown in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The cool, dry climate of the area gives the wine its unique character. The wine is aged for 16 months in 30% new and 70% used French oak barrels, which adds spicy notes to the fruit and balances the tannins. The wine has aromas of red fruit, black cherry, and subtle hints of oak. The palate offers an elegant blend of dark fruit, vanilla, spice, green herbs and wet stone that leads to a long, smooth finish. This wine pairs well with grilled meats and roasted vegetables.

Raats Family Wines
Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. That’s it. Since 2000, founder Bruwer Raats has kept his focus on these two varieties, believing that specialising would lead to success. This belief was not unfounded, as today, Raats Family Wines is regarded as a leader of South Africa’s Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, receiving consistent local and international accolades. With Gavin Bruwer joining Raats’ side in 2010, the family affair has one shared mission: to consistently produce Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc of outstanding quality from South Africa and to establish these wines as international benchmarks. As the Raats philosophy continues to flourish, new, curated additions have been introduced along the way. This includes the well-received, vineyard-driven B Vintners Vine Exploration Co. range, and the single wine, special bottling of MR De Compostella – an incredibly successful collaboration between Raats himself and fellow winemaker and long-time friend, Mzokona Mvemve. Based in the winemaking capital of Stellenbosch, Bruwer, Mzokona and Gavin’s winemaking criteria is rigorous, and includes the quality of grape, soil, climate, topography and of course the impact of the human hand, which together, embodies the truest meaning of terroir.

Каберне Совиньон и Шенин Блан са най-добре изявяващите се сортове от района, като Каберне Совиньонът развива очарователно землисто ухание и минерално усещане на вкус, особено от лози засадени на гранитни почви, а Шенина се получава изключително свеж, изобилен, плодово ароматен и наситен, а и е добре адаптивен, тъй като толерира сушите и горещините, характерни за летата в Стеленбош. Сира, Пти Вердо, Мерло, Шардоне, Совиньон Блан и Ризлинг също даават страхотни вина от този тероар, като специален е Пинотажът, уникален, червен сорт кръстоска между Пино Ноар и Сензо създаден в Южна Африка през 1925 година. Стеленбош е родното място на този сорт и както почвите, така и климатичните и топографски особености са много подходящи за отглеждането му.
