The term Monkey Shoulder was inspired by workers who transferred barley by hand. Because they had to work for long periods of time, they tended to injure their shoulder and one arm would be stretched downward like a monkey's - thus the nickname Monkey Shoulder. Brian Kinsman who is the distiller now, always chooses the right combination of casks for each batch he makes to ensure a smooth taste and rich flavour at the end as a result. The three Speyside malts are blended in a large barrel where they are aged together for 3 to 6 months. When the malts have been blended and taste tested by Brian, this triple malt whisky is bottled and given the three monkeys mark.
