Only four other countries in the world produce more wine. The wine-growing regions of Mendoza can be roughly divided into three districts, one main cluster to the north, one closer to the Andes in the west and one further south to the middle of the province. More than 300 bodegas cultivate the vineyards in the Alta Zone, the symbol of quality wine production in the country. The leading variety for the country is Malbec, which is a great partner with the national cuisine, consisting predominantly of meat.
