The vineyards are located along the Struma River. The wine well "covers" the idea of a stylish mature wine. Orbelus Prima 2015, a blend in which the tones of wax, the light airiness (acetation, typical for a barrel wine) combines well with the fruit nuances - a rich and attractive nose. A melting flavour with consistency throughout - a harmonious, complex wine with many associations. Orbelus Prima 2015 has a silver medal from the famous Decanter World Wine Awards.

Orbelus Winery

Orbelus Winery

Orbelus is the first certified organic winery in Bulgaria. It has over 200 decares, divided into 20 separate mini-massifs along the Struma Valley, each with specific characteristics of soil, humidity, air, wind and other elements of the terroir. They say about themselves: "we are not afraid to experiment at every stage, from the vineyards we see - from the use of techniques in the winery to the blends that go into the bottle."

Struma Valley

Struma Valley

The Struma Valley region covers the Southwestern part of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian part of Macedonia. The climate of the region is specific and is highly influenced by the warm currents from the Mediterranean Sea. The main grape varieties here are the local endemic Shiroka Melnishka vine, Melnik 55 (cross between Shiroka Melnishka vine and the French variety Valdigie), but also the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and others. Due to the dryer climate and the higher temperatures, the wines develop warm southern tones in the aroma, with nuances of ripe fruit and a densely rich body. Of particular interest are the wines from Shiroka Melnik vine, partly due to the fact that the variety is difficult to grow because it ripens in late autumn. Today, the region is the most dynamically developing in Bulgaria, with many new, small, family owned wineries, increasingly focused on the quality and terroir expression of the wines they produce.

Merlot

Merlot

Southwest of France is Merlot’s birthplace - the regions of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Merlot is nowadays widely planted across the world much like Cabernet Sauvignon because it is an early maturing grape variety and because of its ability to ripen fully even in slightly cooler climates. Smooth, velvety, soft and rounded - an “easy drinking" wine with tender tannic structure - these are the common descriptions of Merlot wines.
