What is specific about this Mavrud is that the vineyard is 65 years old and over 85% of it is dominated by the old Mavrud clone, which has smaller grains and produces more intense colour, explosive flavour and powerful body. Inky purple colour with violet hints, slightly transparentThe characteristic aroma of the Moorwood strain grabs you from the first nose - a strong presence of black pepper, forest herbs, thyme, blackcurrant, raspberries, blueberries and red and black small berries. Juicy and fruity, with a full body, very nice freshness that comes from the higher acids that keep the wine tight and suitable for bottle age.

Bendida Winery е разположена в плодородната Тракийска низина в село Брестовица – столица на виното в България и е само на 17 км югозападно от град Пловдив. От 1936 г. Винарната е приютила фамилната ни история за правене на вино и нейното съвременно продължение. Виното започва с производството на първото вино от Методи Портев . След 1944г при промяната на политическия режим в страната процесът е прекъснат. Днес неговият внук , наследил името и страстта му към виното, възстановява старата каменна винарна, като запазва автентичния вид на сградата, но с ново оборудване.

Thracian valley
In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is temperate continental protected from northern winds thanks to Stara Planina, with good rain distribution. It includes the central parts of the Thracian lowland and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. Mavrud, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Muscat, Pamid and others are grown. The climatic conditions of the region favour the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines, especially from the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Mavrud. Good wines from the local variety Mavrud are especially valued for their aroma and taste of small red fruits, spices and herbs.

Mavrud
Mavrud is a dark-skinned grape variety of Bulgarian origin, widely planted in the Thracian valley, more precisely in the region of Asenovgrad. The grape’s name is derived from the Greek mavro, meaning black, and the wines it produces usually are of an inky colour. They also have pronounced tannins and excellent acidity, with stewed-fruit flavours on the palate with some herbal characteristics. It is no easy task to produce wine from Mavrud alone, but whoever succeeds creates a wine that certainly does not lack character.
