The wine is vinified in large clay pans of Georgian origin - quavers using the orange wine method. Fermentation takes place throughout its entire duration in contact with the grape skins at the quavers buried in the ground with long maceration and slow fermentation without added sulphites, yeasts, enzymes. The colour is sparkling golden with a glossy sheen. The nose is fruity and intense with pronounced accents of quince and ripe pear. Medium body, lively and tight in the mouth with a very long, attractive finish.

Alexandra Estate

Alexandra Estate

Innovation, style and the pursuit of the best are the basis of the project Alexandra Estate. It all started in 2012 with the purchase of 200 acres of premium vineyards in the region Sakar, proven to be one of the most famous wine regions in Bulgaria. Alexandra Estate’s vineyards in Oreshets, Harmanli were in the first fruiting year when they attract the attention of the experts, and their proximity to the 100 years old oak forest and the location in the foothills of the Eastern Rhodopes contribute more for their selection. The exposure of the vineyards is north. This allows the grapes to retain good acids even in this region with normally hot climate. Varieties included in the estate’s wines are: Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Roussanne, Semillon and Viognier. In 2013, Alexandra Estate is expanding with another 100 acres of vineyards in the village Rakitnitsa, Stara Zagora, located 300 meters above sea level, and their carbonate soils contribute to the excellent quality of grapes planted on them. Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Semillon will produce its first fruit in 2016. What distinguishes Alexandra Estate in the cultivation of vines, are the principles of organic and biodynamic farming. In 2014. Alexandra Estate will produce a total of 30,000 bottles of wine: white, ros? and red. In the same year will begin construction of a winery in the village Rakitnitsa, which will produce up to 60,000 bottles. At a design stage is the second winery of Alexandra Estate with larger production capability, located in Oreshets village. For the vinification are used own French oak barrels with a capacity of 225 liters and 300 liters. All wines, except ALEXANDRA SAUVIGNON BLANC 2013, are fermented and matured in barrels, and even the Ros? is partially fermented in French oak. For Alexandra Estate work proven professionals: the cultivation of the vines is entrusted to Atanas Shiderov and Eric Moro and for the wine making and the creation of blends take care Alexander Velyanov and Thierry Haberer

Thracian valley

Thracian valley

In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is temperate continental protected from northern winds thanks to Stara Planina, with good rain distribution. It includes the central parts of the Thracian lowland and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. Mavrud, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Muscat, Pamid and others are grown. The climatic conditions of the region favour the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines, especially from the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Mavrud. Good wines from the local variety Mavrud are especially valued for their aroma and taste of small red fruits, spices and herbs.

Vermentino

Vermentino

Vermentino is a white wine grape variety grown in various places in the western Mediterranean: northwestern Italy, southern France and the neighboring islands of Corsica and Sardinia. It is known by different names - Pigato in Liguria, Favorita in Piedmont and Rolle in Provence, although there is a disagreement as to which of them are synonymous with Vermentino and which are separate varieties. It is an indisputable fact that Vermentino wines, Pigato wines, Favorita wines and Rolle wines have many common features - refreshing acidity and attractive aromas of peach, lemon peel, dried herbs and saline minerality. Vermentino's genetic and geographical origins are quite uncertain and unclear, which contributes to disagreements over his identity across countries. Some theories claim that in Italy he comes from Spain, others say the exact opposite, and there is a third theory that his homeland is in the Middle East and in the Mediterranean arrives through Greece. However, the variegated and foggy past of the variety does not prevent its spread and its ability for strong terroir expression. In Liguria Vermentino (Pigato) is the main variety in white wines from Colli di Luni. Here, the freshness and minerality of the wines reflect the cool, bright landscape of Carrara's marble quarries. In the west, the Vermentino vines have taken root in the dramatic vineyards of the Cinque Terre. Here, using the passito (sun-drying) method, the variety is a key component in the jammy, similar to nectar Cinque Terre Sciacchetra sweet wine. In Tuscany, the Vermentino vineyards around Bolgheri produce some of the richest Italian white wines. The warm and sunny Tuscan climate in combination with various oenological techniques (contact with the skins, aging on fine lees and aging in barrels) contributes to the creation of wine comparable in density and aromatic complexity with the wines of the Viognier variety. In Sardinia, Vermentino is the key grape for local white wine production and enjoys its own name, Vermentino di Sardegna, which is used to make one of the island's most prized wines, Vermentino di Gallura. The proximity of Corsica and Sardinia suggests the presence of Vermentino on the French island as well. Here it is also a key component in the white wines from all over the island and is successfully grown in the vineyards of Patrimonio, Ajaccio, Figari, Calvi, Sartene, Porto-Vecchio and the peninsula "Cap Corse." Vermentino does not miss the Provencal coast of southern France. Here, however, it is traditionally known as Rolle, although it is increasingly referred to by its more modern Italian name Vermentino. Of particular note are Bellet's white wines, which are made from at least 60% Vermentino.
