Brezza Barolo Castellero DOCG 2019
The geological features that characterise this vineyard are the so-called Diano sandstones, formed hundreds of thousands of years ago. That is to say, the soil here is sandier than Cannubi, and produces a wine with good structure that is not always balanced, especially when it is still young. In fact, it is recommended for consumption after its sixth year. Vinification, as with all Brezza’ wines, is very precise - in cement tanks and subsequent ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels. The result is a lovely and complex wine with a spicy nose with hints of smoked meat and spice. The body is very tight and extracted with long finish. A wine we highly recommend with red meats, game and hard cheeses.

Brezza
The Brezza family has owned and operated the winery and vineyards in the Barolo region since 1885. They got their name from the first wine producer, Giacomo Brezza and his father Antonio, in 1910. For the fourth generation, the goal is to present the terroir expression in wines in full harmony with nature and organic farming. The basis of the family philosophy is the production of pure varieties of wines with spontaneous, wild fermentation and aging in large wooden vessels of 3000 liters of unbaked Slavonian oak.

Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is the grape variety behind the top-quality red wines of Piedmont in Italy, the most notable of which are Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are distinguished by their strong tannins, high acidity and distinctive scent – often described as "tar and roses". The name comes from nebbia (fog) which is a common view of the vineyards in autumn. Powerful and intense, Barolo is the most famous and prestigious Nebbiolo-based wine, but it is increasingly rivaled by the slightly more elegant and perfumed wines from Barbaresco to the northeast, which rose to prominence in the late 20th Century.
