Шато дю Бюкастел
Château de Beaucastel is located in the southern part of the Rhône Valley in France, with vineyards in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation and its surroundings. Characteristic of Beaucastel is that it includes all 13 permitted grape varieties in its red wine Châteauneuf du Pape, with Mourvèdre being the leading variety. Château de Beaucastel owns a total of 130 hectares of land, of which 100 hectares are planted with vineyards, most of which are located in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation. The winery takes its name from the Beaucastel family, the first inhabitants of the area, since the 16th century, although they are not its founders. The current owners of Beaucastel acquired the estate in 1909 and the property remained in the ownership of the Perrin family ever since. Beaucastel uses large, old barrels (foudres) for its wines, and only for the Syrah variety allows some contact with new oak. The different grape varieties are vinified separately and later blended for the final wine.

The Rhone Valley is a long, narrow strip in the south of France. In practice, this region is divided into two sub-regions, each with its own type and identity - North and South Rhone. The northern part is best known for its legendary and long-lasting red wines, mainly from Syrah grapes: Hermitage, Ivory Coast, St. Joseph and Cornas, as well as the fragrant white Viognier from Condrieu. The south is home to the full Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas, as well as the light Rose of Tavel. Chateauneuf-du-Pape can be a blend of up to 13 different varieties, 3 of which are even white. This is the main difference between it and Gigondas, where white varieties in the blend are not allowed. The most famous of these main red varieties are Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault, and the white ones are Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier.
