Malkata Zvezda Winer

Malkata Zvezda Winer

The Little Star was established in 2005 in the strong wine region of Sakar, with old plantations from Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The winery is located 11 km from Haskovo, and the exact place is chosen according to the microclimate and wine traditions in the area. Since 2015, wines are beginning to acquire a more modern vision thanks to the young technologist Svilen Georgiev. The annual production is about 130,000 bottles. The cellar is modernly equipped with small stainless steel fermentation vessels and barrels (90% of which are new) made of Bulgarian and French oak. Southern Sakar wines have a good tannin structure and remarkable fruity nuances. In the Little Star they know how to express the terroir in this wonderful place.

Thracian valley

Thracian valley

In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is temperate continental protected from northern winds thanks to Stara Planina, with good rain distribution. It includes the central parts of the Thracian lowland and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. Mavrud, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Muscat, Pamid and others are grown. The climatic conditions of the region favour the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines, especially from the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Mavrud. Good wines from the local variety Mavrud are especially valued for their aroma and taste of small red fruits, spices and herbs.
