Albert Mann

Albert Mann

This is the result of the unification of two large families of vine growers: Mann, who are vine growers from the early 17th century and Barthelmé, the current owners, vine growers from 1654. The winery is located in the heart of Alsace, in Wettolsheim, a region with a long wine tradition. They have been growing their vineyards according to the principles of biodynamics since 1997. This requires more work and investment, but they are guided by the belief that this gives the wine its own identity, as well as a pure reflection of terroir. The use of biodynamic preparations promotes the organic life of soils and the development of mycorrhizae in the roots of the vine. Currently, the mansion covers 23 hectares, divided into a hundred small "cultivation islands that we work as a hundred small gardens" - these words clearly express the belief of Domain Albert Mann, which is reflected during the vinification, where the leading factor is an approach with finesse. The result in the glass is impressive and memorable for a long time.

Alsace

Alsace

Alsace is located in northeastern France, between the Vosges Mountains and the French border with Germany, marked by the Rhine. This is a long, thin region, 185 kilometers from north to south and only 40 kilometers from east to west. The key wine-growing regions here are located on the lower slopes of the Vosges, with eastern and southeastern exposure. Alsace specializes in white varieties such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. These varieties, naturally distributed in neighboring Germany, in contrast, here are produced in a much drier style. The best presented are the dry and mineral Riesling, the spicy and strong Gewürztraminer, which go well with the local cuisine. Other interesting and noteworthy are the light and fresh Sylvaner, as well as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
