Domaine Marash
MARASH Wine Cellar is a new generation winery built in the town of Straldzha and bears the name of the eponymous pass in the Balkan Mountains and an area in the immediate vicinity. All wines produced in MARASH are from their own vineyards of 500 decares, where they are represented as white varieties, such as - Muscat O'Tonnell, Traminer, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Semillon, and red - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Malbec, Pinot Noir and Alicante Boucher. In order to achieve the highest quality, the yields of grapes are controlled and the harvesting and selection is done manually. Technologies that spare grapes and wine are applied in order to preserve to the highest degree the fruit character and varietal aromas. Although relatively young, the winery already has 4 brands under which its wines are presented - MARASH, LENEA, QUATTRO, HEDERA.

In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is temperate continental protected from northern winds thanks to Stara Planina, with good rain distribution. It includes the central parts of the Thracian lowland and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. Mavrud, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Muscat, Pamid and others are grown. The climatic conditions of the region favour the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines, especially from the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Mavrud. Good wines from the local variety Mavrud are especially valued for their aroma and taste of small red fruits, spices and herbs.

A lesser known fact of Malbec is that it is a native to southwestern France, but now better known as the iconic wine grape of Argentina, its second homeland. Broadly speaking, French Malbec tends to be more meaty, rustic and tannic, while examples from Argentina seem to be uniformly rich, ripe, jammy and juicy. On both sides of the Atlantic, Malbec wines are generally aged in oak to enhance the wine's structure and aging potential.
