Antinori
The Antinori family has been dedicated to the art of winemaking for over six centuries, since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, the guild of Florentine winemakers. Throughout the history of these twenty-six generations, the Antinori family has run the business directly, making innovative and sometimes bold decisions with respect for tradition and the environment. Today, Albiera Antinori is President of Marchesi Antinori with the support of her two sisters, Allegra and Alessia. Their father, Marchese Piero Antinori, is the current honorary president of the company and the man behind the world-famous Tignanello from Chianti region - a wine that breaks tradition and makes a blend between Sangiovese and the French varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Tradition, passion, innovation and intuition are the driving forces behind Marchesi Antinori, which to this day help them establish themselves as one of the most important winemakers of elite Italian wine.

Barbera
The Barbera variety is a red grape variety found in several Italian wine-growing regions outside their native Piedmont, such as Emilia-Romagna, Puglia, Campania and even the island regions of Sicily and Sardinia. At the beginning of the 21st century, this is the third most commonly planted red wine grape after Sangiovese and Montepulciano. It is used for the production of both blends and pure wines, the latter becoming more and more prevalent. The cultivation of Barbera has been documented since the 17th century and traditionalists still produce wine by the then widespread method - with longer maceration and less oak. However, fans of modern techniques are increasingly turning to more rounded, more affordable styles, softened by aging in oak. Due to its naturally high levels of acids, Barbera can be grown in warmer climates without affecting the quality of the wines. This acidity complements the cherry aromas characteristic of typical Barbera wines and contributes to the stereotype that Italian red wines are ripe, bright and fresh, not so voluptuous and earthy. When young, most Barbera wines have the typical character of ripe red cherries, relatively soft tannins and a pleasant roundness. When aged in a barrel and then in a bottle for several years, these cherry notes develop towards nuances of a sour cherry and even plum. Barbera reaches its zenith in Piedmont, where the vine performs best on the well-drained, limestone-rich slopes with a warm southern exposure.
