Quinta de la Rosa Vintage 2017

Out of stock
Art. # 4492

The wine is traditionally crushed with feet in granite tanks, in the beautiful cellar located along the Douro Valley. Initially some of the must is drained off to create the wonderful rosé of Quinta de la Rosa. The resulting vintage port is a very concentrated wine with a crimson colour and complex aromas. The tannins are ripe and the finish is nice and long.

Quinta de la Rosa

Quinta de la Rosa

Quinta de La Rosa is a small property in the heart of the Alto Douro wine region, not far from Pinhao, Portugal. The Bergqvist family founded the manor in 1906, and since 2002 they have run it with the help of the talented winemaker Jorge Moreira. Quinta de La Rosa is one of the few wineries that make Single Quinta Port. The vineyards start on the banks of the Duro River and rise to 450 meters, on steep hills to the top, on a thin layer of humus. In search of moisture and food, the roots go deep down through cracks in the shale soils. Due to the elevation, the terrain has 11 different microclimates. This gives La Rosa great flexibility in making a variety of complex wines. La Rosa and Tim Berqgvist clearly express the essence of winemaking in the Douro region - pride, courage, tradition and determination to create the best in extremely difficult conditions. The result: Quinta de la Rosa makes small quantities of superb quality Porto and red wine.

Touriga

Touriga

Touriga Nacional is perhaps the most appreciated and valued variety in Portugal, one of the base in the finest red wines from Dao and Douro wine regions, also a key ingredient in the fortified wines of Port together with Tempranillo. The variety displays bold dark-fruit flavours, often with hints of spice, leather and violet, has firm tannins and shows great ageing potential.
