Chapoutier is one of the oldest families in the Rhone Valley. From 1988 until today, Michel Chapoutier has run this large negociant and wine business, with passion and determination, against standards and dogmas, true to the philosophy of terroir. Over the next twenty years, production increased from half a million to seven million bottles per year. The purchase of new plots has a great merit for this. Michel, the first of the winemakers at Hermitage, focuses on making wines, in small batches, from special countertops. Reduces yields, matures in new barrels, harvests only when the grapes have reached full maturity and switches entirely to a biodynamic model of agriculture. It sounds normal now, but in 1989, in the Rhone Valley, it was unknown and strange. Today, M. Chapoutier makes some of the most diverse and complex wines in the northern part of the Rhone River, and his Chapoutier Sélections Parcellaires are among the most prized and rare wines along the Rhone.
