La Gerla is the name of the grape collection baskets that are specific to the Montalcino region. The terroir is extremely rich and offers an inexhaustible resource of opportunities for the development of viticulture. In 1975, Sergio Rossi created Fattoria La Gerla by replanting the vines using selection massale, a cloning technique, but not from a single mother, but from many different plants. The genetic diversity within the variety ensures the preservation of its individuality in the region. The vineyards of La Gerla are a total of 11.5 hectares, planted only with the local variety Sangiovese Grosso (also known as Brunello). The wine reveals the unique connection between the land of Tuscany and the depth of taste.
