Antonio and Joanna Maçanita, brother and sister, get along well in their joint project in Douro under their last name Maçanita. Antonio is a well-known name because of his commitment to the Alentejo region and especially to the Azores project and their wines, which are some of the biggest discoveries in recent years. Joanna is also committed to her project to restore the brilliance of the Algarve, once a very famous region - she advises six wineries in the southernmost part of Portugal. Today, in their joint project, the two produce wines from the three subregions of the Douro Valley (Cima-Corgo, Baixo-Corgo and Douro Superior). In addition to the region's classic blends, the two offer very bold solutions - such as pure Malvasia Fina among whites and pure local Sousão among reds. Their wines are more than promising, and brother and sister are not afraid to push the boundaries and force us to leave our comfort zone by offering these unexpected treasures.
