Mono A Luis Seabra 2022

Art. # 7867

Mono A is a 100% Alfrocheiro - an indigenous grape known for its deep color, savory profile, and firm structure - grown in the high-altitude granitic soils of the Dão. It’s a pure, lifted, and thoughtfully restrained take on a grape that’s often blended.

Aromas of black cherry, bay leaf, dried rose, and crushed granite. The palate is medium-bodied and savory, with notes of wild berries, black tea, and a firm, chalky tannin structure. A nervy, energetic red with aging potential and real varietal clarity.

More about this product

Luis Seabra

Luis Seabra

For nearly two decades, Luís Seabra has been at the center of a cultural shift in Portuguese winemaking, leading a movement of young, independent winemakers making history by reclaiming historical vineyards, grape varieties, and techniques. After a celebrated career as a soil researcher in Vinho Verde, enology instructor, and producer of world-famous still wines in Douro, Seabra finally launched his own small winery in 2013, Luís Seabra Vinhos. His work is dedicated to proving that fresh, elegant, terroir-driven still wines can be made in this region, despite centuries of traditions that favor overripe fruit, and massive internationally owned wineries.

Alfrocheiro

Alfrocheiro

Alfrocheiro is a Portuguese variety with intense fruit aromas and high quality potential. It originates from the Dao region in central Portugal. Fertile, productive, early budding and early ripening. Small, compact bunches of small berries. Wines are richly colored, show good balance between body and freshness and have fine-grained tannins, but they are distinguished by their aroma: intense notes of blackberries and ripe strawberries that are still evident when the variety is occasionally made in a rosé style or, even more occasionally, as a white wine.
