The Singleton is produced in 3 different distilleries, characterised by different flavours; Glen Ord - with hints of berries, Glendullan - fresh orchard fruits and Dufftown - nutty and grain notes. Dufftown is the distillery where The Singleton of Dufftown is produced. Located in Speyside, Scotland, it opened in 1896 and was previously a mill. From 1896 until 2015, the distillery was intended to produce whisky only for Europe and was known as "the smooth one" or "the smooth one". At The Singleton, the fermentation process takes 30 hours longer than the standard time, which is 40-50 hours. This contributes to a more rich and fruity taste in the final product. The barrels at Dufftown Distillery are American and European oak. Each type contributes to the smooth and memorable flavor of the whiskey.
