This plot is of historical significance because it was first planted in Santa Barbara for commercial purposes - in 1964. At that time, the whole area was considered too cold and unsuitable for viticulture. Time proves the opposite. In 1989, Ken Brown, the founder of Byron, began making wine from the Nielson plot, which covers an area of ​​about 170 hectares, thirty kilometers from the Pacific Ocean and 150-200 meters above sea level. This location and the cool winds guarantee the density, rich aromas and solid structure of Byron wines.
