Copain Wines

Wells Guthrie founded the winery in 1999, choosing the French word for "companion, companion" for her name because she believes wine is a shared experience. He is impressed and inspired by the time he spends as an intern at Michel Chapoutier, north of the Rhone Valley. His style is manifested in well-balanced wines - with lower alcohol and combined with a large number of foods. Wells Guthrie meticulously selects the grapes he picks only from Anderson Valley and Mendocino County. He specializes in Pinot Noir, Syrah and Chardonnay varieties from cool, mountainous climates. Bright, energetic wines, with fresh flavors, from organically grown vines, with minimal manipulation - this is already a trademark of Copain. Each bottle is a little French-style adventure and beautiful landscapes of Northern California.
