The Pondokrug Cabernet Franc 2017 is bright red in color. The nose is a deep, complex and intriguing mix of bright raspberry fruit, cloves and some typical herbal pyrazine characters. The palate has a gentle entry, but is firm and structured with ripe cherry and blackcurrant flavors with hints of bell pepper. The tight, grainy tannins hold the fruit flavours into a long, succulent and fresh finish. Drink 2022-2035.

Keermont
Keermont Vineyards is a specialist wine estate set in the naturally-formed amphitheatre between the Helderberg and Stellenbosch Mountain ranges. All grapes used in producing wines are grown on Keermont Vineyards. Most of the vineyard parcels grow on deep red clay rich soil derived from sandstone and granite and are surrounded by indigenous vegetation. They lie between 250 and 400 metres above sea level at the top of the valley, and have a variety of aspects from North East to West facing. In 2001, the Wraith family moved to the Western Cape from Gauteng and in 2003 bought two adjacent farms which today make up Keermont Vineyards. In the winery the aim is to guide the wines through fermentation and maturation as gently and naturally as possible. In Keermont they believe that through this gentle process, they can capture the true essence of the fruit that they put so much effort into growing. For this reason they allow a natural and spontaneous fermentation to occur, they mature the wines in seasoned oak casks, then move the wine using gravitational flow rather than pumps and bottle the wine with little filtration ( white wines) and with no filtration ( red wines).

Каберне Совиньон и Шенин Блан са най-добре изявяващите се сортове от района, като Каберне Совиньонът развива очарователно землисто ухание и минерално усещане на вкус, особено от лози засадени на гранитни почви, а Шенина се получава изключително свеж, изобилен, плодово ароматен и наситен, а и е добре адаптивен, тъй като толерира сушите и горещините, характерни за летата в Стеленбош. Сира, Пти Вердо, Мерло, Шардоне, Совиньон Блан и Ризлинг също даават страхотни вина от този тероар, като специален е Пинотажът, уникален, червен сорт кръстоска между Пино Ноар и Сензо създаден в Южна Африка през 1925 година. Стеленбош е родното място на този сорт и както почвите, така и климатичните и топографски особености са много подходящи за отглеждането му.
