Maryan Mavrud & Merlot 2024

In stock
Art. # 8688

A dense, rich dark ruby color. A rich, complex aroma with noticeable notes of black forest fruits, basil, black pepper, and earth. A fresh and firm body with a balanced, slightly smoky finish. Notes of blueberries, resin, and blue plums are noticeable.

This wine is an elegant interpretation of the Mavrud variety, focusing on its fruity character and aiming to be a gastronomic wine. Merlot adds a rounded body and enriches the fruity character of the wine. An excellent wine for every day and easy to pair with food.

Maryan Winery

Maryan Winery

Marian Winery is a small family winery, which was established in 2010 in the village of the same name in the Elena Balkan. The technological equipment was ordered especially for the Marian winery in order to fully meet their requirements for wine production. The idea and mission of the owners is to create high-quality limited series of wines from the best grapes in vineyards under the control of Marian. And the names of the wines themselves were chosen specifically to capture moments in the history of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.

Mavrud

Mavrud

Mavrud is a dark-skinned grape variety of Bulgarian origin, widely planted in the Thracian valley, more precisely in the region of Asenovgrad. The grape’s name is derived from the Greek mavro, meaning black, and the wines it produces usually are of an inky colour. They also have pronounced tannins and excellent acidity, with stewed-fruit flavours on the palate with some herbal characteristics. It is no easy task to produce wine from Mavrud alone, but whoever succeeds creates a wine that certainly does not lack character.
