A blend of typical Portuguese grape varieties, predominantly Encruzado, from a vineyard at an altitude of 490 meters, planted around 1987. It is fermented and aged for one year in used 500-litre French oak barrels.
Exquisitely contoured white wine, boasting profound mineral aromatics, nuances of white blossoms and pale-fleshed fruits. On the palate, it presents a citrusy profile, vibrant freshness, and a luscious creamy texture. The finish lingers, marked by delightful hints of salinity.

Luis Seabra
For nearly two decades, Luís Seabra has been at the center of a cultural shift in Portuguese winemaking, leading a movement of young, independent winemakers making history by reclaiming historical vineyards, grape varieties, and techniques. After a celebrated career as a soil researcher in Vinho Verde, enology instructor, and producer of world-famous still wines in Douro, Seabra finally launched his own small winery in 2013, Luís Seabra Vinhos. His work is dedicated to proving that fresh, elegant, terroir-driven still wines can be made in this region, despite centuries of traditions that favor overripe fruit, and massive internationally owned wineries.

Dao
Surrounded by mountains in all directions, based on very poor granite soils, the Dão region extends its vineyards scattered among pine forests at different altitudes, from 1,000 metres in the Serra da Estrela to 200 metres in the lower areas. The vineyards are sparse and discontinuous, divided into multiple plots, with properties with almost insignificant average areas. The mountains determine and condition the region's climate, sheltering the vines from the direct influence of the continental climate and the maritime influence. The poor soils are mostly granite. The most important white grape varieties are Bical, Cercial, Malvasia Fina, Rabo de Ovelha and Verdelho, in addition to Encruzado. As regards red grape varieties, besides Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Jaen and Tinta Roriz stand out, as well as the little valued Baga, Bastardo and Tinta Pinheira.

Encruzado
For the moment, this grape is restricted very much to the DOC Dão, but watch this space. It is one of Portugal's absolutely top white grape varieties. The best examples have delicate aromas of roses and violets, light citrus notes, a touch of resin and, in certain conditions, intensely mineral notes. Amongst its virtues is the ability to maintain almost perfect balance between sugar and acidity, making serious, rich, structured wines with extraordinary ageing potential. It is used both as a single variety and as a star ingredient in many Dão blends. The Encruzado vine yields well, presenting no major problems in the vineyard.
