A translucent garnet colour, showing all the brilliance of mature Barbaresco. Exotic earthy nose with ripe plum, orange, porcini mushrooms and tobacco. The palate is well structured, with typical Nebbiolo high acidity and tannins. The palate is complex, intense and very full-bodied. The finish is very long with layer after layer of ripe plums and bitter chocolate and considerable tannins. A stunning wine in a classic style that is a worthy addition to any collection. This wine needs five or more years to open up, despite spending three years in barrel and another three in bottle before release. Enjoy it with polenta and braised meats, game, any dishes that contain truffles, and aged cheeses.

Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is the grape variety behind the top-quality red wines of Piedmont in Italy, the most notable of which are Barolo and Barbaresco. Nebbiolo wines are distinguished by their strong tannins, high acidity and distinctive scent – often described as "tar and roses". The name comes from nebbia (fog) which is a common view of the vineyards in autumn. Powerful and intense, Barolo is the most famous and prestigious Nebbiolo-based wine, but it is increasingly rivaled by the slightly more elegant and perfumed wines from Barbaresco to the northeast, which rose to prominence in the late 20th Century.
