Château La Mission Haut Brion

La Mission-Haut-Brion is the best wine of the Graves region, then of Haut-Brion, but in some vintages, it definitely outperforms it. The two properties are in close proximity (shared once) and have been owned by Domaine Clarence Dillon SA since 1983. The vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon 46%, Merlot 44% and Cabernet Franc 10%, on a deep layer of gravel mixed with clay. Interestingly, the blending takes place before aging in barrels. Here they believe that blending wines is important before the influence of the tree is felt. La Mission Haut Brion makes a thick and rich wine with aromas of tobacco, soil, spices, which takes time to reveal its charm.
