Zelanos

Zelanos

Wine is the only drink in the world today whose business card is where the grapes grew. & Quot; - they claim in Zelanos winery. The small boutique winery is located in the village of Slavyantsi, in the Rose Valley, also known as the kingdom of Misket: a delicate, fragrant, typical Bulgarian variety, with flavors reminiscent of white flowers, green apple and citrus. The winery's own vineyards, over 70 hectares, in addition to the unique local variety Muscat, produce the classic Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The views from the terraces of Zelanos winery to the entire Sungurlar valley are no less enchanting than the wines themselves. The god Zelanos turned grape juice into a desired and magical drink, which gave the Thracians strength in battles and joy in everyday life. Probably that is why, as Herodotus writes, the Thracians made important decisions only when they were drunk.

Black Sea region

Black Sea region

The Black Sea coast is an area where nearly 30% of Bulgarian vineyards are concentrated. The climate, with warm summers and mild winters, is suitable for growing white varieties. Autumn is warm and long, which favours the accumulation of enough sugars to produce fine white semi-dry wines. Over 50% of white grape varieties in Bulgaria are grown here, and the most common are Dimyat, Riesling, Uni Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Traminer, even Sauvignon Blanc. The wines have a pleasant fruity aroma, rich taste and elegant freshness. The old endemic variety Dimyat, in addition to being suitable for dry, is often used for the production of dessert wines, as well as for fine aromatic distillates.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is the dominant red wine grape of Burgundy, a challenge for every single vine grower and wine producer. It can be found in Germany (as Spätburgunder), Italy (Pino Nero), Chile, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The wines show a specific aroma of red berries and cherry depending on the vinification method employed - from fresh red cherries in lighter wines to stewed black cherries in weightier examples, many of them also showing hints of earthy flavours.
